Ms. Argent has practiced with the firm since 1989, handling complex business litigation in both state and federal courts, and in AAA and FINRA arbitrations. Ms. Argent’s cases have run the gamut of business litigation: breach of contract; corporate malfeasance and officers’ breaches of fiduciary duty; interpretation of contracts and declaratory judgment actions; non-compete and other restrictive covenants; franchise disputes; copyright; employment discrimination; shareholder’s claims and restrictive stock agreements; business torts, including tortious interference; and customer claims against financial advisors/brokers. She has handled cases involving a wide range of businesses: television broadcast and advertising; real estate development, brokerage, and lending; agriculture; telecommunications; construction; and commercial landlord/tenant.
Additionally, Ms. Argent has represented clients in both divorce litigation and settlements, as well as in the preparation of prenuptial agreements. Ms. Argent finds that her experience in business litigation has been invaluable in her domestic practice, since marital agreements and divorces often involve tax and accounting, valuation, and business operational issues that are similar to those in commercial litigation. Her extensive business litigation practice has thus enabled her to address the same complex issues when they are relevant in divorces. Ms. Argent’s domestic practice is assisted by the experience of business, tax, and real estate lawyers at Thomas & Libowitz. Ms. Argent’s practice also includes other domestic matters involving custody and visitation, child support, alimony, and protective orders/domestic violence. Ms. Argent has been recognized as a Maryland “Super Lawyer” in the family law field since 2013.
